Welcome Rock 1404 936 QTBT

Enjoy a hand built trail along New Zealand’s longest historic water race.

Welcome Rock is a private high-country station turned into a biking + hiking retreat, about 45 minutes south of Queenstown near the small settlement of Garston. It sits on about 2,000 hectares of rugged farmland / high country, with remote, scenic views and water so clean you can drink from the rivers. Avoid all the crowds and get off the beaten track in this stunning private high country setting.

There are 2 loop trails – 21km and 27km with the option to stay in an overnight hut. These hand shoveled tracks along New Zealand’s longest historic water race are special and unique. Really get away from the world and relax into the farmland with spectacular views and no rush to be anywhere.

Seasonal Access: Trail is open for biking / hiking roughly from 1 October until 30 April. In winter, riding is not permitted (snow / weather reasons). Some huts or sections inaccessible when snowed in.
