Riding in Clyde is unforgettable and the views are outstanding.

Only an hours drive from Queenstown, anyone with a spare day must add Clyde to their itinerary.

Clyde is a great gateway for a variety of rides, from scenic day-rides to more challenging gravel and singletrack.

Clyde’s carefully cut amazing single track is mostly fast and flowing, with good tech and fun features. It’s enough to get speed, but keep you on your toes because you never know what is around the next corner. Generally much drier than Queenstown, so a good option if the locals trails are wet.

One of its standout options is the Lake Dunstan Trail, a 55 km Grade 2-3 trail linking Clyde to Cromwell. It winds along Lake Dunstan, the Kawarau and Clutha Rivers, through Bannockburn vineyards, past gorge scenery, suspension bridges, and heritage precincts.

Finally, Clyde is also one endpoint of the Otago Central Rail Trail. While not all of it is mountain-bike terrain, it’s a hugely popular trail for cycling and is excellent if you want long, gentler riding through historical landscapes.
